SUN SAMI DRUM WOODEN PENDANT - HAND BURNT -
 
Sun, the one who rules the cycles together with his eternal lover Moon. He warms the seeds to germinate, embraces our heart to keep it beating, illuminates every sunrise after the moon has reigned through the night. 
In Sami culture, Sun is a very important element, respected and venerated. A sign of this is the number of different symbols to represent the Sun in Sami culture. In fact, Sami people are said to be the children of the Sun.
Sami shamanic drumming is pure art and is deeply linked to the rituals and celebrations, to the life of the Sami people. So Sun is, in many of them, the focal point of the drum patterns.
Sami drums from Norway and Sweden often have the Sun in the centre, a sign of the great importance of the sun to the Sami people.
 
This representation of the Sun is a recreation based on drawings found on several Sami drums. I made this pendant in hazel wood from our forests, burning the figure of the Sun in a handmade way. Finished with natural wax and oil to nourish the wood and help your pendant stay with you for a long time. 
The natural cotton cord is included.
