" In ancient times, they said, there wandered on green paths a mighty and ancient and much-crafty god, vigorous and vibrant, Rig, striding along. ."
This is how Heimdall created the 3 great social groups. And here the story begins...On one of his journeys Rig felt his feet tired, he was thirsty and hungry, so he knocked on the door of a humble hut to ask for shelter for the night. Inside the hut an elderly couple stood in front of the fire. Rig sat down with them to give them advice. Ái (great-grandfather) and Edda (great-grandmother) offered Rig a loaf of bread and lamb for dinner. Then the three of them spent the night in the same bed, Rig lying between the couple. After 3 nights Rig went on his way. Nine months passed and Edda gave birth to a son with dark hair and skin, named Thrall (slave). Thrall grew into an ugly young man, with a hunched back and thick fingers. He tied bark and chopped wood for the farm. He married Thír (slave), a girl with an aquiline nose and sunburned arms. And the couple had many children, just as ugly as their parents. The children worked on the farm, cleaned barns, took care of pigs and goats, cultivated the fields...All of them did the hardest and most sacrificial works, and that is how the lineage of serfs and slaves was born. From the hand of a god the first lineage of humans was born. And so generation after generation, until today. While Rig continued his way through forests, mountains and beaches.
